Hrebecna, Ore Mountains

Hrebecna, Erzgebirge

Small settlement Hrebecna is situated in the middle of snowy peaks of the Western Ore Mountains, close to the village Abertamy. Its foundation is related to the development of tin mining in 16th century. Former strip mines Mauricius and Georg remain the mining history of this area, although the mining activities stopped many years ago. Family hotel Heller offers its accommodation capacities.

Surroundings of Hrebecna are perfect for all lovers of nature who prefer actively spent holidays. In winter you can choose between many cross country tracks. The most popular for cross country skiers is Krusnohorska Magistrala, linking the highest peaks of Ore Mountains. It is well marked and allows crossing of the Czech-German border in several points. It passes several villages where you can hide in case of bad weather or find nice opportunities to rest and refresh yourself. The downhill skiing can be enjoyed in Abertamy, Pernink, Jachymov or Nove Hamry. In Bozi Dar and Klinovec you can find larger downhill centres with steeper and longer pists and snowparks for snowboard riders.

The Ore Mountains Magistrala can be of course used also for summer cyklo tourism and trekking. Not far from Hrebecna you can visit the natural reservation Bozi Dar Peat-bog. The educational footpath goes through the peat-bog. From this place you can continue with other educational footpath Blatensky prikop, which will show you the history of this protected technical landmark. The path leads to Vlci jamy, sunken stoles where the traces of snow remain whole summer. If you like climbing and enjoy the views into deep mountain valleys, plan the trip to one of numerous local outlook-towers. Wonderful views are offered by Plesivec outlook-tower, as well as Tisova or Blatna outlook towers. The fantastic view far to the countryside can be enjoyed on Klinovec, the highest peak of Ore Mountains (Krusne hory) , 1244 m.
